bicton privacy screen and deck
The Bicton garden involved the creation of an outdoor living area with an enclosing screen composed of a selection of stencilled tree images cut into four Cor-ten hanging steel panels and punctuated with two terrazzo succulent bowls and an array of suspended river stones which are positioned to facilitate the growth of the deciduous purple wisteria vine selected for its solar passive qualities.
It also involved the creation of a curved sitting area that is enclosed by a small area of grass and an adjacent Western Australian coastal native garden which is shade by an established jacaranda tree. At the front of the garden is a grove of olives, a small herb garden and a Eureka lemon tree.
The other feature is a hand-seeded concrete driveway which connects naturally to the wide board wooden deck via a winding pathway completed in the same material.
