dianella new homeHaving lived in Japan for three years I am very much influenced by the minimalism that is so beautifully demonstrated in traditional Japanese gardens. The materials used in rear path are hexagonal concrete forms imprinted with organic shapes and punctuated with circular pavers. The mulch is a selection of river stones giving the impression of a dry river bed as it combined with reedy native sedge. The design is quite linear and is meant to be softened by the plants once they have established themselves. The other feature in the rear garden is the hand-seeded concrete curved paths, which compliment the polished concrete outdoor living area as well as the curved raised garden bed capped with natural slices of marbled donnybrook stone. The front garden also features a small Western Australian native garden bed and feature succulent bowls which offer themselves as a dramatic entrance feature.
